The Student route and Child Student route will open on 5 October 2020 to the best and brightest international students from across the globe.
There will be no restriction on the number of students worldwide who can go to higher studies in the UK. This will assist with expanding the all outnumber of worldwide students deciding to concentrate in the UK advanced education framework every year to 600,000 by 2030, as set out in the International Education Strategy distributed in March 2019.
The new Student route improves on the previous Tier 4 route by making it more streamlined for sponsoring institutions and their students, creating clearer pathways for students, and ensuring the UK remains competitive in a changing global education market.
- Students will need a total of 70 points to be awarded leave. They will achieve the required points if they can prove that they have an offer from an accredited educational institution, speak English and are able to establish themselves during their education in the UK.
We also want to assure we retain the most splendid and the most skilled students to continue to offer to the UK post-study, which is why we are starting the Graduate route in the summer of 2021. This additional new route will allow those who have finished a degree at a UK Higher Education provider with a track record of compliance to stay in the UK for two years (three years for PhD graduates) and work at any experience level, and to switch into work routes if they find a suitable job.
The new "Student Route" visa rule is based on points — a total of 70 — which an applicant is required to secure to gain a visa, a statement from the British High Commission in New Delhi said. The new process is more streamlined for students and their sponsoring organisations, it said.
Students “will achieve the required points if they can express that they have an offer from an accepted educational organisation, speak English and are able to support themselves during their studies in the UK,"
Last financial year, nearly 50,000 Indian nationals were granted a study visa – they are the ambassadors of the Living Bridge that connects our countries. Now that we have left the EU, we can introduce this streamlined visa route and the Graduate Route in summer 2021, to ensure the brightest and the best students continue to pick the UK,.
